Romans 10: 17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
In the same way that we eat oranges and get vitamin C, when we allow the Word of God into our system, we receive faith. When we eat an orange, we do not have orange juice running through our veins; rather, the body extracts the necessary nutrients and then uses them for our benefit. When we take in God’s Word, we do not have words running around in our inner man, what we have in our inner man is faith.
God is a faith God. He created the universe through faith. He sustains the universe through faith. Faith is an unseen force that creates things out of nothing.
So how do we get faith? Our text for today tells us how to get faith. It comes by hearing the Word of God. The Word of God has the ability to release supernatural faith into our hearts so that we can move mountains and turn hopeless situations around. As important as fasting is, faith does not come by fasting; it comes by the hearing of the Word of God. Many Christians have not taken out time to build their faith so they rely on the faith of their pastors or prophets. Instead of growing their own faith, they just shift all their spiritual responsibilities to a man of God.
If faith comes by hearing the Word of God, then faith is diminished when the Word of God is absent from our lives. You cannot ignore the Word of God and expect to grow in faith or have strong faith. God expects each child of His to build up his or her faith so that he or she can experience His power in his or her life.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to begin a new proves of building up my faith through Your Word.
