In early 2001, 6 months after relocating to Austin with his family, Pastor Doyin Oke had a strong conviction to start a church. RCCG did not have a parish in Austin , so Pastor Doyin Oke talked it over with his family and they began praying and reaching out to the neighborhood.
RCCG Salvation Center started out as a fellowship in the summer of 2001 at Red Lion Hotel in North Austin. The first meeting was attended by two families and this was our humble beginning, but within a couple of months the fellowship grew to about 20 people. The inauguration of the Church took place at a hotel in North Austin on December 1st, 2001 and not long after the church moved into a suite in a shopping plaza on Cameron road. In an effort to accommodate the growing congregation, the church acquired a little over 3 acres of land on Cameron road in 2008 to build a worship center. During this building phase the church relocated in 2012 to a larger building in the Anderson Square business park.
Throughout the years Salvation Center-Austin has planted churches: South Austin, San Antonio, Killeen, San Marcos, Temple, Little Rock-Arkansas, and a UT campus ministry—Soul Survivors. God is doing wonderful things through Salvation Center-Austin and we are eternally grateful for what he has done in the lives of our individuals, families and the church as a whole.
